Insulation: Interior Wall Wrap Preparation For Cellulose When pushing for an inspection GEE often uses interior wall wrap to hold the cellulose prior to hanging additional sheetrock.  Rogelio Covarrubias and the team install two brands (one for exterior and another for interior walls). 111018 Mini Split Heat Pumps… What We’ve Learned So Far

New Site For Green Earth Equities

Mini Split Heat Pumps What We've Learned So Far Tonight We'll summarize what we've learned so far about Mini-Split Heat Pumps.  And what we suspect and are still researching. To date the ductless, ducted and hybrids Mini-Split systems are the most energy efficient HVAC units we've found.  Heavily in use elsewhere in the world, such time tested technology is greatly needed in America. With decades of experience installing popular manufactures such as Carrier and Train, we're extremely satisfied with the Mitsubishi Mini-Split systems.  Some topics we'll discuss are: What's "better" about these units than typical units we see in America? What needs to be done to...Continue Reading!

What Is A Home Energy Audit?

New Site For Green Earth Equities

What Is A Home Energy Audit? A home energy audit (or survey) evaluates an existing home to determine where and how energy is being lost, what systems are operating inefficiently and what cost-effective improvements can be implemented to enhance occupant comfort, make the home more durable and lower utility costs. (See Benefits of a Home Energy Audit). RESNET has defined three types of energy assessments for existing homes which range in complexity from a simple but effective walk-through survey to a performance audit using diagnostic equipment and computerized data analysis to a comprehensive home energy rating utilizing the most sophisticated modeling software to...Continue Reading!

What Is A Home Energy Rating?

New Site For Green Earth Equities

Home Energy Ratings A home energy rating involves an analysis of a home’s construction plans and onsite inspections. Based on the home’s plans, the Home Energy Rater uses an energy efficiency software package to perform an energy analysis of the home’s design. This analysis yields a projected, pre-construction HERS Index. Upon completion of the plan review, the rater will work with the builder to identify the energy efficiency improvements needed to ensure the house will meet ENERGY STAR performance guidelines. The rater then conducts onsite inspections, typically including a blower door test (to test the leakiness of the house) and a duct...Continue Reading!

Be The Building Scientist Not Just The Lab Rat BTW you get to be the Rat too! Read on to learn more about our latest project. Many in our industry bemoan the fact that there isn't much unbiased & practical data available. Even government funded research tends to have a "laboratory" feel and sometimes fails to give the practical conclusions needed by decision makers. Although we have produced some surprisingly low bills and many happy buyers and renters, it is not quite at the level of a scientific study. The two ends of the spectrum regarding research are the government or university funded study...Continue Reading!

416 Nebraska

Hi, I'm Andrew Martinez and I am an entreprenuer in training. I'm learning from a good friend of mine who owns Green Earth Equities. In this area I will be posting my experiences with Green renovating in Nebraska. A good friend of mine owns a 2 story Tri-Plex apartment house, one unit upstairs and two upstairs. It was built in 1900 and was in pretty bad shape; probably the worst on the block.  Apparently in the 1900's balloon framing was pretty common out here. One of the first homes I got to work on is a living history farm. The...Continue Reading!
