Energy Industry Partners

Better Working Together

From the availability of inexpensive REO’s to national and global attention on the environment, the time’s right for energy conservation in the housing industry.  That’s not to say there aren’t challenges to be overcome. Some find it difficult to find the right real estate agentproperty 0r financing.  Others face hurdles of red tape, fees and delays in obtaining building permits.  Many wonder how to select a good, economical and energy efficient contractor.  Scheduling and quality control can prove daunting, particularly to those new to house flipping. Once the project is complete new issues arise.  What should a energy wise home buyer be looking for? Will my appraiser appreciate the value of energy savings?   Does selling or leasing make the most sense? Is there a future for professionals in Green Building? What are the most promising opportunity’s for a career in this growth industry?  GreenEarthEquities is here to help you find the answers you need.

America Wake Up!

The President is calling for a new era of responsibility. Where every American thinks not only,“What’s in it for me?” but rather,“What can I do for my country?” Nowhere is this more needed than in Energy Wise Real Estate Investing! Where our actions truly affect our national security and the future of our country.  “What is required of us now is a new era of responsibility — a recognition, on the part of every American, that we have duties to ourselves, our nation and the world, duties that we do not grudgingly accept but rather seize gladly, firm in the knowledge that there is nothing so satisfying to the spirit, so defining of our character than giving our all to a difficult task.” – President Barack Obama

The question is just who’s job is to Save The Planet? The President’s? The Congress? The Military? Academia? The Guy Down The Street? Someone Else’s.  I don’t want to think about it.

Another important question is when and how should this be done? Do we  need Gradualism Or Quantum Leap? Will Gradualism Work? Gradualism means doing a partial scope of work.  A partial solution will not solve a whole problem.  We know the whole solution. The Energy Wise Investor is in the best position to deliver the best solutions.

What we need is an immediate and influential consensus and partnership among the entire building industry.  Renovators and Contractors are limited by what buyers will buy….. Usually a lot less than the whole solution. Investors are limited by their belief that since they are investors, they must maximize their Return On Investment (ROI) so they limit themselves to “Lipstick On The Pig

Politicians are limited because they only see bureaucratic solutions and everything they touch suddenly is more difficult and costs more. Bureaucrats are limited because they make all decisions with a mind toward job preservation and pay increases. Program managers and operators are limited because they can only do what the program specifies. And no programs demand or even adequately reward full solutions. All the programs offer a menu of choices.

GreenEarthEquities is joining with other truly Green Hearted organizations and individuals in calling the Building Industry to partner together in addressing the energy, economic and housing crises facing America and our entire planet.  Together we believe we can make a drastic difference, One Foreclosed House at A Time…

Energy Modeling Isn’t Very Accurate

New Site For Green Earth Equities

Energy Modeling Isn't Very Accurate By Martin Holladay Tonight we will consider Martin Holladay's recent post in Green Building Advisor,  ENERGY MODELING ISN'T VERY ACCURATE.  Martin's blogging is one of the few "must read" sources of Home Performance information available, so I was glad to see him take on this topic.   His column is called the "Musings of an Energy Nerd" so you know he's proud of his numbers and "Calls 'em as he see's 'em." The inaccuracy of modeling programs along with the steep learning curve for most of them have caused me to question their place in our industry ever since...Continue Reading!

What Would You Say If…..

New Site For Green Earth Equities

(If You Had 30 Seconds To Address Our Industry?)  That’s what I had when accepting the Tony Woods Award at the recent Affordable Comfort Conference in Baltimore.   Actually there was no time scheduled but Larry Zarcher’s a nice guy, so he bent the schedule … “OK, but no more than 30 seconds.” The audience was a thousand of the most influential folks in the Home Performance Industry. Having an opinion or two, and since spontaneity is not a problem for me, I was happy to have the opportunity. So I said, “Just imagine that everyone in here were to go out and...Continue Reading!

Free Scholarship Ticket to the Conference: I'm paying it forward. Someone paid for me to attend my first conference several years ago and I've been hooked since then. Green Home Reference Guide Part 2

New Site For Green Earth Equities

Green Home Reference Guide Part 2 Complexity Vs Simplicity Tonight we will continue our discussion with Debra Little about Appraisals and Appraising Green, Energy Efficient Homes. We will complete the Guide that she uses in the training classes that she conducts for Appraisers around the country. It will lead into a discussion on Simplicity versus Complexity. How complex and complete does an Appraiser's understanding of Home Performance need to be?  Can we keep it simple?  Or must we (and they) be sucked into the Vortex of Complexity that so easily rises up in an industry with so many variables?  Some would say, "Let...Continue Reading!

Forum On Dry Climate Home Performance 2012

New Site For Green Earth Equities

Irvine 2012 Forum Dry Climate Home Performance Flexibility is one of the benefits of working on your own projects so we're flexing and changing the plan for this Tuesday's Webinar. I made a last minute decision to attend the Forum On Dry Climate Home Performance in Irvine this week.  The focus of this year's event is working toward Net Zero Energy homes. What is working? How well does it work?  How difficult is it? The organizers have been very specific. We want to hear real data from real projects as opposed to modeling and projections from Manual J, EnergyPro, or any other instrument....Continue Reading!

110906 The eMonitor

New Site For Green Earth Equities

The eMonitor Energy Performance Monitoring Tonight we will look at another idea who's time has come...  The eMonitor (and other similar power monitoring systems)  Isn't it time all new houses (and quality renovations) come with these systems installed? It has been proven that just knowing where we are losing money has been able to modify usage to reduce consumption by an average of 20%. This is more savings than many renovations and the cost is less than almost anything else that can be done. The good thing is that monitoring impacts customer behavior much more than mechanical equipment. GreenEarthEquities is planning to start...Continue Reading!
